January 28, 2015

The Harvard GSAS Science Policy Group and DMS Policy Path is organizing a trip to Washington, D.C. April 8-10, 2015 to visit multiple government agencies, non-profit organizations and think tanks that are involved in making, implementing and influencing science policy. The goals of this trip are to learn how scientists and policymakers tackle science policy issues and to explore career paths for scientists in policy and government - a unique opportunity for students to network with various federal funding agencies and policy makers in Washington, D.C. This trip will be the second annual Washington, D.C. Visit Days offered by the GSAS Science Policy Group, and it will continue to be an annual event that will introduce scientists to opportunities in DC. The trip is restricted only to GSAS students.

Most of the expenses for the trip will be covered. We will cover the travel expenses (flight and Metro) and group accommodations for 2 nights. You will be responsible for your food/drinks and all other personal expenses.

Participants should be interested in science policy. You are expected to actively participate during the visits, and will be expected to write a visit report for one of the agencies/organizations. Full participation is expected and non-compliance would lead to loss of reimbursement and a fine to cover the remaining costs of the trip.
